Why upgrade to an LCD monitor?
Not only do they save desk space and weigh less than conventional CRT monitors, LCD monitors are valued for their ability to reproduce more accurately displayed images, especially for print purposes. They also tend to have less glare, since flat surfaces of LCDs have fewer angles to pick up and reflect glare. This means virtually no eye strain for the user, which leads to hours of viewing enjoyment at a time.

I am using Windows 95/98/2000/XP. How can I change my display settings?
Click Start and move the mouse cursor to locate/click on Control Panel. Then click the Settings tab. Adjust the screen resolution slide bar to your desired resolution. Or Right click on your desktop, then select Properties. Click on the Settings tab. Adjust the screen resolution slide bar to your desired resolution. The resolution cannot and will not exceed the native resolution of the LCD. You can also adjust the color quality in Settings.

My video card can only allow me to display at a certain resolution, which I want to exceed...
Many video cards have room for more memory chips. Sometimes adding memory (RAM) to your video card can increase the video card's display capabilities. Refer to the video card user manual for the specific memory type and contact the card vendor or manufacturer to purchase the additional RAM. A purchase of a whole new video card can also be considered, which will allow your desired resolution and provide faster performance.

My LCD monitor only allows me to display at a certain resolution, which I want to exceed...
Monitors are not upgradeable to allow higher resolutions/refresh rates that would exceed the native (true) resolution. For example, if you have a 19" LCD running at its native resolution of 1280 x 1024, but you prefer to run or view certain applications at 1600 x 1200, that will not be possible. You will need to purchase an LCD that supports 1600 x 1200 (UXGA) resolution.

What is a pixel?
A "pixel" is a tiny colored dot on your display. The word "pixel" is combined by the words "picture" and "element". It refers to the individual dots that, when grouped, comprise a video display's picture. If you look very closely at your monitor, you can see its pixels. Each pixel contains one red, one blue, and one green phosphor. Hint: You can see the pixels in greater detail with a magnifying glass.

What does ARAG stand for? What is the advantage of anti-glare monitor?
ARAG, an acronym for Anti-Reflective, Anti-Glare, is a trademarked process by which image quality is retained despite the fact that actually less silica is used to coat the screen to prevent glare and alleviate eyestrain. The ARAG coating method is noted for excellent image retention and clarity of viewing.

What is the Autotune feature?
Selecting this feature from the on-screen display menu or by pressing the "Auto" button, if included, will automatically adjust the screen to the best possible picture.

What is VESA?
VESA, which stands for Video Electronics Standard Association, is a group of manufacturers who define standards for video displays for the personal computer industry. One famous standard proposed by VESA and adopted by the computer display industry is 75Hz vertical refresh at 800 x 600.

Drivers for my LCD monitor.
Advueu LCD monitors are all Plug & Play and do not require drivers. No drivers are available unless specified. Windows will recognize it as a Plug & Play monitor and install appropriate, default drivers. This will not effect the monitor's performance.

No Audio coming from the speakers.
1. Check your audio connections. Verify that you are plugging the audio cable to the correct speaker output from your sound card. Is there sound coming out of the audio output? Try plugging an external speaker if available to verify.
2. Increase the volume level for both the LCD monitor and PC.
3. Check to see if the speakers are muted from the LCD monitor's on-screen display menu. MUTE and UNMUTE while playing music.
4. Use a spare audio cable other than one that came with the unit to verify if it is an audio cable problem.

What does "resolution" mean?
When referring to monitors and video cards, the word "resolution" is most commonly used to denote display format, e.g., 640 x 480 (width x height), 800 x 600, 1024 x 768, etc. It is the size of the image displayed in number of dots, which makes up the width and height of the image. In a more general sense, it refers to display quality/clarity, which can hinge on dot pitch, pixel convergence, pixel depth, and other factors.

What is VGA?
VGA is an acronym for Video Graphics Array, and is an IBM-defined resolution of 640 x 480 with 16 colors.

What is SVGA?
The generally accepted definition of Super VGA (SVGA) is 800 x 600 with a minimum of 256 colors at that resolution.

What is XGA?
XGA is short for Extended Graphics Array and signifies 1024 x 768 resolution, found most commonly in 15" LCD monitors set as the native resolution.

Why do my games only run as high as 800x600 and 256 colors?
Games usually involve heavy graphics that may be too resource intensive. Game performance and speed may be affected if more colors were programmed for use.

What is the advantage of having an MPR II monitor?
The MPR II rating signifies compliance with Swedish standards organization's rating for low electromagnetic emissions. MPR-II rated monitors are less likely to cause health-related problems given that there may be a link (it is still controversial) between EM radiation and a variety of human illnesses.

What is the advantage of having a TCO-rated monitor?
The TCO rating signifies compliance with the German standards organization's rating for low electromagnetic emissions. While the TCO rating does not supplant the MPR-II rating (they are issued by different agencies), TCO is considered a more stringent rating than MPR-II.

What is the Advueu's policy on non-performing dots on an LCD screen?
Committed to providing customer satisfaction by offering high quality products, Advueu LCD monitors rarely have non-performing dots, more commonly referred to as "dead pixels." They can take the form of either a light or dark dot.
In compliance with ISO 13406-2 standards for LCD panels, Advueu has set forth the following criteria for non-performing dots for all Advueu LCD Panels to supplement the Advueu limited warranty.
| ADVUEU NON-PERFORMING DOTS POLICY |
| SIZE | TYPE | # NON-PERFORMING DOTS ALLOWED |
| LIGHT | DARK | TOTAL |
| 15" | LCD | 2 | 3 | 5 |
| 17" | LCD | 4 | 4 | 8 |
| 18.1" | LCD | 4 | 4 | 8 |
| 19" | LCD | 4 | 4 | 8 |
| 17" | LCDTV | 5 | 5 | 5 |
If there is a cluster of some non-performing dots less than the allowable number, Advueu will take this into consideration depending on colors that are missing and the distance between the non-performing dots. Advueu will consider the location of the non-performing dots within a specific area. A dark dot will not have any color at all; it will be black. A light dot will have some color depending on your background color.
Note: It is possible that any service replacement display may also have some non-performing dots that fall along the acceptable range specified above. This should be considered when requesting a warranty replacement or exchange.

My LCD screen looks blurry. Text is not crisp. Is it defective?
Not necessarily. Please check to see that your resolution is set at the native resolution of the LCD.
Advueu 15" LCD = 1024 x 768 Advueu 17" LCD, 18.1" LCD or 19" LCD = 1280 x 1024
LCDs running at their native resolution will have the best picture. For example, for 17" LCDs, there are 1280 pixels (horizontal) and 1024 pixels (vertical), making up the 1280 x 1024 native resolution. Any resolution below that for 17" will create slight blurriness because of pixel sharing (eg. 1024 x 768, 800 x 600). This is normal.
